Google Calendar privacy

This notice explains the optional Google Calendar availability feature in the JIIE Consulting member portal. It does not change how the rest of the website works.

What we access

When you choose “Connect Google Calendar”, Google asks you to authorise two read-only permissions: viewing your availability and listing your calendars. The portal uses the calendar list to identify your primary calendar and other calendars selected in your Google Calendar settings. It then requests only free/busy time intervals for those calendars.

We do not request event titles, descriptions, locations, attendees, meeting links, transcripts or files. We cannot create, change or delete Google Calendar events through this feature.

How we use and share it

The portal displays busy and available time slots in a shared project view so members of the same JIIE Consulting project can coordinate. An authenticated member can see the free/busy grid only for projects they are allowed to access. Members of other projects and public visitors cannot use this view. If a calendar is disconnected or Google cannot be reached, the slot is shown as unknown, not available.

We do not sell this data, use it for advertising or use it to train AI models. Google supplies the calendar data, and Supabase hosts the connection records and server-side function used by the JIIE portal.

What is stored

To keep your connection active, the portal stores an encrypted Google refresh token in Supabase, linked to your JIIE user account. The encryption key and OAuth client secret are held in server-side secrets, not in the website. The app also creates short-lived, single-use records while you connect. Free/busy results and calendar names are processed for the requested view and are not saved to the project database.

Your choice and control

Connecting Google Calendar is optional. You can disconnect from the project availability panel at any time; this removes the active refresh token from the portal database. You can also revoke the app’s access in your Google Account connections. For questions, access requests or help deleting connection data, write to consultingjiie@gmail.com.

Only connect a calendar you are comfortable sharing as busy/free time with your JIIE project teammates. The feature never shows what a calendar event is about.
